Dear Mr. Lin:
Your letter of 14 December 2010, arrived today. With interest I read it and with gratitude I accept your generous gift a visible sign and concrete refection of God's immeasurable gift to us and all humankind in Jesus, the Christ, the Prince of Peace, the Sun of Justice and of righteousness.
I am encouraged to know that the TCCCNA continues to flourish and through its regular assemblies reinforces the ethnic and linguistic bonds, yet living intermingled in our society.
Thank you for informing us about former colleagues having passed away. We remember Ms Crawford and Dr. Landsborough, treated me more than once when it became urgent to go to Changhua and find medical help.
As for us, I have turned 91, last October and Mrs. Gelzer, close behind, celebrated her 90th birthday a month ago. The human machine for both of us shows signs of wear and tare!. But we look with confidence to the year 2011. Our daughters and sons are spread out through the U.s., California, Oregon, Virginia and, not so far from here, Lancaster, P A.
I continue to do volunteer service at the archives of the Presbyterian Church(USA), located in the center of Philadelphia. We also help out at Rydal Park, the retiren1ent community, situated next to Jenkintown. It is closely related to the Presbytery of Philadelphia. When we moved here more than 3 and a half years ago, much to our pleasure, we found former colleagues. That made the entree, and yet another move, much easier.
I continue to keep in touch with my former colleagues, John Tin, Ong Lam-kiat bok-su, and some former students, especially, the Rev. Dr. Huang Po-ho, Vice President of the former Boys school near Tainan Theological College, now a large co-educational university.
In equal measure, I follow the developments of the political situation under the current president MA. Are you familiar with an excellent source of factual information, Taiwan
Communiqué? It is Published Formosan Association for Public Affairs, located in Washington, D.C. ?The current issue, Nr.130, is of particular interest because the editors, Gerrit & Mei-chin van der Wees, tell about how and when, in 1980, they began this
Communiqué.
With thankful hearts we send you, TCCCNA Board, our good wishes for the year 2011.
Sincerely,
David and Elisabeth Gelzer
