親愛的 TCCCNA 所有會員平安,

非常謝謝你們再一次的記得我們，並寄來慷慨的禮金。

我們從1960年起有7年的時間與台中長老教會合作，留下許多美好的回憶。1964-1968年5年間，我擔任東海基督教大學院牧和教堂的牧師帶給我們極大的喜悅。在此期間有一百名學生受洗，另一百接受基督作為他們的救主。約占當時學生人數的25％！我們經歷了台灣人民對信仰的渴望，以及對基督教信仰的接納。

很高興收到您的年度信函，並分享您們的喜樂和關心。我們會繼續為您們的事工、台灣的前途、以及遭遇到與我們類似問題的國家祈禱。我們尤其傷心102歲的華仁愛姑娘過世，她與 Ruth Broekema，在1957年3月一起歡迎我們成為台灣的新傳教士。她已經得著她 “榮耀的冠冕”！

我們都很好，雖然嘉爾牧師有一些健康問題使得他的動作減緩。然而在一個大學城的退休生活為我們提供了很多繼續學習的機會和文化的活動。我們依然活躍在我們的教會並用上帝賜予的恩典繼續為祂服務。

再次感謝您。願您在事工和牧會經歷上帝豐豐富富的恩典。

Dear members of TCCNA: Peng-an

We so deeply appreciate being remembered again this year and being recipients again of your generosity in the Christmas check. Thank you so much.

We have many fond memories of working with Taichung Presbytery for seven years, beginning in 1960. That was followed by five years of great joy from 1964-1968 when I served as chaplain and pastor at Tunghai Christian University and church. During that period one hundred students were baptized and another one hundred accepted Christ as their savior. That comprised 25% of the student body at that time! We experienced a hunger among the Taiwanese people and so open to the Christian faith.

It is a pleasure to receive your annual letter and hear of your joys and your concerns. We will be faithful in prayer for your ministries as well as for the future of Taiwan, experiencing problems similar to those of our own country. And it was especially sad for us with the passing of Miss Jeane Walvoord, at age 102, who was the one, along with Miss Ruth Broekema, who welcomed us to Taiwan as new missionaries in March 1957. She has received her "crown of glory"!

We are doing well though Carl has some health problems slowing him down. Retirement living in a college town affords us many opportunities for continued learning and cultural events. We are active in our church and serving where God can use our gifts.

Thank you again. May you experience God's richest blessings on your work and ministries.
